  7.      Are you better off than you were four years ago? The
  8. ECONOMIC POLICY INSTITUTE, a liberal Washington think tank, will
  9. soon release a detailed analysis of recent census data, and the
  10. Democrats can't wait to trumpet the economic findings. For the
  11. first time in postwar history, average wages and benefits have
  12. declined for four years straight, says the institute. Perhaps
  13. worse: wages of college-educated Americans, women and
  14. white-collar workers -- whose votes are crucial -- have been
  15. declining. Assuming Americans vote their pocketbooks, Democrats
  16. stand to gain.
